E-Administration and the G2e Interaction in Oto-Awori Council Development Area of Lagos State, Nigeria: A Technology Acceptance Model-Based Approach

This paper aimed to interrogate the application, extent of usage, and impact of e-administration tools in the Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area in Lagos State, Nigeria, using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) as its context. E-Administration covers most of the G2E (government-to-employee) processes and interactions that improve government organisation's internal administrative procedures. The study was prompted by the need to examine the actual use of e-administration tools in a Nigerian Public Sector, which was omitted in previous literature works and to add to the knowledge-base in the research area. The survey design was adopted for the research. Data were sourced from 114 staff members of the Oto-Awori LCDA, which equals 76% of the 150 target population. Simple random sampling technique was employed in selecting respondents. E-questionnaire was used for data collection. The data obtained were analysed and presented, using frequency, mean, simple percentage, chart and standard deviation. The hypotheses were analysed using multiple linear regression to assess the effect of perceived ease of use (PEOU) and perceived usefulness (PU) on technology acceptance (TA). The findings showed that the inculcation and utilisation of electronic public administration increased efficiency, productivity or improved performance in Oto-Awori LCDA operations. The study recommended that the Lagos State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), in partnership with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), should organise regular ICT workshops to enlighten and give hands-on training to the civil servants with a view to reinforcing the efficacy of ICT towards the G2E workspace.
