The 2018 World Poverty Clock Report and Nigeria as "The Poverty Capital of the World": Changing the Narrative through Innovation, Leadership and Sustainable Development
In recent years, Nigeria has topped the list in the league of poverty-stricken nations of the world. However, even though the country is adjudged to be the most populous black nation globally, and the "giant of Africa", it was still declared the poverty capital in the international system in 2018 from a report released by the Brooklyn Institute. Nigeria's appalling narrative of poverty despite its vast natural and human resources has continued to elicit research interest amongst social scientists. This study, therefore, seeks to investigate the availability or otherwise of leadership and innovative strategies towards sustainable poverty alleviation in Nigeria. The study adopts a qualitative data collection method from primary and secondary sources.
