Abstract:

The article analyzes Mozambique’s post-conflict transition to democracy and political stability since the end of the country's civil war in 1992. The authors find that the democratic consolidation process in the country has been accompanied by extractive political and economic institutions, something that has led to a disgruntled citizenry. Furthermore, they also contend that Mozambique's peace agreement remains fragile and that the political stability established in the country has not been accompanied by the development of social justice, equality or democratization
