Occupational Health
Occupational Health
The international Labour Office estimates that between 110 and 120 million accidents occur at places of work each year worldwide. With the global increase in regulations, inspections and policies relating to occupational health and safety, there is a growing demand for up-to-date information and knowledge concerning these issues. Occupational Health is written to encourage good health and safety standards in the workplace and to equip the reader with practical knowledge of relevant European Union legislation. Part One provides an introduction to occupational health issues, including not only the 'Health of the Nation' implications in the UK, but also recent progress in developing countries. Part Two focuses on occupational health issues in the workplace and includes chapters on issues such as occupational diseases, toxicology, hygiene, first aid and paramedics. Part Three highlights both current and future research and training whilst Part four provides a comprehensive list of information sources and services. This practical resource will prove invaluable to professionals and students involved in health and safety standards in the fields of occupational health and safety, occupational nursing and hygiene and environmental health. SHEILA PANTRY, OBE is an Information Services Consultant and has a wealth of experience in occupational safety, health and hygiene information management.
