Introduction to the Special Issue on "Atlanta Conference on Science and Innovation Policy"

This special issue of the African Journal of Science, Technology, Innovation and Development (AJSTID) features a selection of papers from the Atlanta Conference on Science and Technology Policies, which was held October 2-3, 2009. The Atlanta Conference, which is held biennially, highlights the importance of changes in knowledge, techniques and approaches to tackling global problems. In 2009, the Conference focused on how science and innovation policies contribute to goals related to safety, economic security, improved health, and environmental quality.
