African Union and RECs/RMs Convene the Fourth I-RECKE Policy Session on Structural Conflict Prevention

The African Union Commission (AUC) with its Regional Economic Communities (RECs) and Regional Mechanisms (RMs), convened the Fourth Policy Session of the Inter-Regional Knowledge Exchange (AU I-RECKE) on Early Warning and Conflict Prevention on 12 July 2025, in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, on the margins of the 7th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting (MYCM) of the African Union, the Regional Economic Communities, the Regional Mechanisms and the African Union Member States.
Held under the theme “Structural Conflict Prevention: Continental and Regional Lessons,” the session brought together high-level participants, including the Chief Executives of RECs/RMs and their representatives and members of the AU Peace and Security Council, for a strategic dialogue on strengthening conflict prevention efforts across the continent. It was presided over by H.E. Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, Executive Secretary of IGAD, in his capacity as Chair of the Inter-REC Coordination Mechanism.
