Educational planning: Issues and perspectives
This textbook emphasizes the point that educational planning is a continuous process. The purpose of this process is to make education more effective and efficient. Therefore, educational planning dimension must encompass formal and non-formal education. This will enhance the achievement of national development. The book is divided into six chapters. Chapter 1 discusses educational planning. Chapter 2 deals with the discussion on the approaches to educational planning. These approaches encompass social demand, manpower requirements, and cost-benefit analysis. In chapter 3, administrative aspects of educational planning is discussed. Chapter 4 examines the data needed in educational planning. Chapter 5 is devoted to a discussion on the economics of education. Finally, in chapter 6, education and national development is discussed. The general issues of educational planning have been discussed, giving particular reference to developing countries. As a textbook, it is primarily intended for university and college students of education. In addition, professionals and practitioners in the Ministries of Education and School Administrators will find it invaluable. Furthermore, it will be of value to all those concerned with education in relevant Government Ministries.
