Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to share recommendations after validation and a tested model on small successful business collaboration. Worldwide, small-scale farmers experience severe and distinct challenges compared to large-scale farmers, such as a lack of capital, high dependence on labour, a deficiency in the market value chain, and insignificant turnovers. This paper examined the role of collaboration to determine whether small-scale farmers at KwaDlangezwa should invest in business collaboration for greater agricultural output. The study consisted of 28 small sugar cane farm growers interviewed, using the collaboration approach/model, and the findings confirmed that there will be a greater output if the collaboration could be implemented. This study suggested and implemented collaboration capabilities for boosting productivity gains, using an explanatory case study. The study findings revealed that most cane growers produced below-anticipated sugarcane at KwaDlangezwa. The Mpact Felixton Mill is a sugar manufacturer near KwaDlangezwa; the manager shared some of the contributing factors contributing to unsatisfactory output, such as a lack of farming knowledge and skills as well as a deficiency of appropriate technology in farming. The study examined the role of collaboration to determine whether small-scale farmers should formally invest in business collaboration for greater agricultural output, as some of the farmers have tried and succeeded on collaboration in compelling situations. The study used qualitative research and discourse data analysis in support of collective action theory for the proposal and implementing collaboration at KwaDlangezwa.
