Exploring Morocco's Goods Export Performance from 1990 to 2021: An Economic Analysis of the Determinants and Growth Opportunities
Trade in goods constitutes a vital component of Morocco's economy, driving income generation, economic growth and international competitiveness. Thus, our research aims to scrutinise the determinants shaping Morocco's goods export performance and identify growth opportunities within the Moroccan context. Through a comprehensive cointegration analysis, we applied an autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model to data spanning 1990 to 2021. The findings of the study underscored the intricate interplay of global demand, human capital development, monetary stability, economic growth, exportable supplies, and innovation in shaping Morocco's export performance, both in the short and long terms. In the light of these results, strategic recommendations emerge, tailored to the Moroccan context. Strengthening Morocco's export performance necessitates targeted investments in human capital development, the promotion of an innovation-driven ecosystem, ensuring monetary stability, and enhancing access to exportable supplies. These measures, aligned with Morocco's unique economic landscape, are pivotal for harnessing the country's export potential and advancing its position in global trade dynamics.
