Growth Versus Development Orientation in Iran
Growth Versus Development Orientation in Iran
Despite sustained agricultural and food production in developing countries, the fruits of this progress are not shared by all and many remain in poverty. Some claim this is due to unequal distribution of benefits and believe that reducing disparities is the most important objective for agricultural development. The purpose of this paper, however, is not to add to the rather voluminous literature on the theoretical issues of growth versus development, but rather to present an empirical study of growth-development orientation among agricultural development agents of Iran. In this regard the relationship between growth-development orientation with demographic, job-related, and planning policies attributes of the agents are discussed. Relevant conclusions and recommendations are also presented.
