Imagining Digital Capability in Southern African Higher Education
This study examined the state of digital capability in Southern African higher education. The digital divide theory was commissioned as the lenses for analysis. The main focus was on the importance of digital capability, the possible barriers, and the strategies to combat the challenges. The study found out that vibrant digital capabilities in Southern Africa higher education is threatened by factors such as lack of infrastructure, limited access to digital resources, technological skill gap, and resistance to change. The strategies to mitigate threats to digital capability were proffered such as investment in infrastructure, training and professional development, and policy and governance that is responsive to the digital culture.
