Abstract:

The paper gives an example of an urban renewal programme which has been developed and implemented in pre-united Berlin, Germany. It looks at the experience of the 1980s in order to contribute to the discussion of how to face the more recent challenges of the changing Europe, emphasizing the contribution that community education can make to integrated approaches of community development and urban regeneration.
