Roma in Istanbul: Strategies to Deal with their Exclusion from the Welfare System
Roma in Istanbul face exclusion in social security and assistance due to the detrimental employment conditions they experience within both the Turkish labor market and the general structure of the welfare system. They have, however, strategies of their own in order to deal with and overcome exclusion. This paper aims at shedding light on these strategies resting on reciprocity and solidarity.
