Abstract:

This study analyses the impacts of the SAF and RSF conflict in Sudan within the first 14 months. It also outlined and discussed the responses of global actors to the conflict. Grounded on power theory (PT), the study adopted the documentary research method, which involved a rigorous review and extraction of data from extant literature in libraries, archives, and the internet. These data were presented qualitatively and analysed with relational content analysis techniques. The study revealed that the SAF and RSF conflict in Sudan has enormous negative impacts on the human security of the Sudanese and the wider world. Besides, the initial responses to the conflict were slow and chaotic, given Sudan's involvement in multiple regionalisms. The anchorage of mediation in the Trilateral Mechanism is commendable. But the mechanism needs to harmonise the interests of various forces within Sudan. Above all, inter-Sudanese dialogue is key to the shaping of a peaceful and prosperous future for the country.
