The State of Women in the World Atlas captures the shape of women's lives across continents and cultures. A decade after the first edition of this atlas, Jani Seager explores the shifts that have occurred and portrays the current status of women in relation to such key issues as: equality;motherhood;feminism;beauty culture;women at work;women in the global economy;changing households;domestic violence;time budgets;girl children;lesbian rights and women in government. Map, text and other graphics show clearly the gains that women are making - and the many inequalities that persist. Above all, the atlas once again demonstrates that the better the state of women, the better the state of the world.
