The Tigray Conflict: Assessing the Efficacy of International Responses and Early Warnings
The Tigray Conflict: Assessing the Efficacy of International Responses and Early Warnings
Despite numerous international and regional measures to reduce, armed conflict in Ethiopia, violent conflicts continued. This study seeks to assess the effectiveness of international responses and early warning mechanisms in the Ethiopia-Tigray conflict. Based on qualitative methods and secondary data, the study reveals that the failure of the AU and EU to engage early warning mechanisms shows a gap between the existing reality and their commitment to peace and security, and more so for the AU's aspiration to silence the guns. There are wobbly tendencies of the AU and the EU in responding to conflict and early warning, such that recommendations given are for key policy considerations.
