Abstract: 

South Africa has come out in post-1994 as one of the emerging states in the African states, especially from the Southern African regional block. As a result, South Africa's approach to the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and Africa as a whole and its international relation approach uses the African Renaissance principle by enhancing peace and stability, good governance, democracy, and the rule of law. Consequently, South Africa became a new destination of many refugees and asylum seekers from the African continent even from other continents due to socio-economic challenges. Because of South Africa's economic, political, and social stability, it is a destination for many Africans, although it experiences challenges of having an undocumented immigrants. Hence, this paper outlined several causes and factors that contribute to having these undocumented immigrants. This study adopted a qualitative research methodology. Further, the study employed a qualitative method of data collection, which is a primary data collection. The participants were selected systematically, using a random sampling method. The study equally investigated the existence and effectiveness of government services rendered by the Home Affairs Department on documentation for those undocumented immigrants in South Africa. Furthermore, it outlined and assessed the challenges that have been experienced by those undocumented immigrants in South Africa. Lastly, it unpacked the existence of those undocumented immigrants in South Africa.
