'Above all, acknowledge the pain': a conversation about resilience with Sheryl Sandberg and Adam Grant
Sheryl Sandberg and Adam Grant discuss their collaboration on the book, 'Option B: Facing Adversity, Building Resilience, and Finding Joy' which chronicles the challenges Sandberg faced when she lost her husband Dave Goldberg suddenly from a cardiac condition. Developing resilience in business follows a similar path to that of emotional resilience: acknowledging the painful issue directly, learning from failure, offering support, preparing for unexpected crises, promoting downtime for creative thinking and recharging, and ensuring that others are important and relevant. Constructive criticism and feedback after loss/failure also helps improve resilience, as does reassuring someone who has suffered loss/failure that they are not facing their challenges alone.
