Abstract:

Guy Scott served as Zambia's Minister of Agriculture (1991-1993), its Vice-President (2011-2014) and interim President (October 2014 to January 2015). The word Adventure in the title of the book is instructive: Scott is of European descent and, although he was born and raised in Zambia, writes as both an adventurer or outsider and as an insider at the coalface of Zambian politics. The subtitle, A Story in Black and White, reminds readers that the author is a white politician writing about his predominantly black nation. Scott's candour is admirable and evident as he recounts his support for Michael Sata's opportunistic and, sometimes, morally ambiguous, politics.
