(In and) Out with the Academy
(In and) Out with the Academy
This essay considers how the international Creative Writing community continues to develop its relationship with the academy, questioning a number of expectations. It relates in particular to the work of the National Association of Writers in Education (NAWE) in the UK and the NAWE report on Creative Writing, Beyond the Benchmark. It reflects on the findings of that report in the light of subsequent developments and publications, notably NAWE's new peer-reviewed journal of Creative Writing research, Writing in Practice, and the guest article by Philip Gross to the first issue.
