Abstract:

This article illustrates the need for integrated child-focused development strategies that focus on all three environments of children: material, physiological, and social. By focusing on the experiences of Dalit and Tribal children in Kerala, India, the article points to important policy lessons to be considered in future strategies aimed at the child in poverty.
