Demobilisation and its aftermath II : Economic reinsertion of Southern Africa's demobilized military personnel
Demobilisation and its aftermath II : Economic reinsertion of Southern Africa's demobilized military personnel
This monograph sketches a profile of demobilised military personnel in terms of skills and training needs. It outlines the current and projected job opportunities in unskilled semi-skilled and skilled occupations in South Africa's economic sectors. Most of the current job reductions affect unskilled and semi-skilled occupations. This complicates the reintegration of demobilised personnel, of whom most fall within the semiskilled category. It also raises the issue of suitable training and multi-skilling. It is hoped that the results reflected here will provide helpful information for those who are responsible for making and implementing policy and programmes in this regard.
