Food and nutrition security is and has been one of the strategic imperatives for African governments and policymakers. This is expressed in many government policy documents and national development plans. The right to have access to sufficient food for all citizens is enshrined in some of countries' constitutions but without a clear legislative mandate with which Citizens can hold governments responsible.
