Abstract: 

This paper has discussed environmental principles and practices for sustainable national development. It has shown what people perceive and think about environment, the role of environmental engineers, and other allied professions dealing with environmental issues, the current challenges facing environmental engineers, and how to squarely handle those challenges. The paper has concluded with adequate and preferred solutions to be considered in order to attain a sustainable national development compared with global standards.
