Abstract:

This article analyzes land administration in Ethiopia's Afar region and how differences between statutory and customary tenure systems shape relations between the state, investors, local communities and cultural groups. It also examines the impact of multi-stakeholder land disputes on land resource management in the country and provides policy recommendations on how to improve land administration practices in Ethiopia's pastoral areas.
