Gender, poverty and environmental indicators on African countries
Gender, poverty and environmental indicators on African countries
This is the second volume of Gender, Poverty and Environmental Indicators on African Countries published by the African Development Bank Group. The publication is intended to provide some information on the broad development trends relating to gender, poverty and environmental issues in the 53 African countries. Since few of the social and environmental indicators are collected annually, as changes tend to occur slowly over time, the publication will be produced biennially. We welcome suggestions to further enhance the quality, coverage and presentation of information min this document. Gender, Poverty and Environmental Indicators on African Countries, 2001-2002 is divided in two parts: Part one has three sections presenting cross-country data on gender, poverty and the environment; and Part two provides detailed country-specific data for each of the 53 countries. Gender, Poverty and Environmental Indicators on African Countries, 2001-2002 was prepared by the Statistics Division of the Bank's Strategy Planning and Research Department. The staff team was led by Charles Leyeka Lufumpa and included Maurice Mubila, Grégoire Mboya De Loubassou and Anthyme Bayimina. Laeticia Mukurasi from the Bank's Environment and Sustainable Development Unit prepared the initial text drafts on gender. The text under the environment section was prepared by Simona Kufakwandi from the Central Operations Department of the Bank. Josephine Yeboua provided secretarial and administrative support. The publication was prepared under the general direction of Henock Kifle.
