Guidelines for drinking water quality ;vol 2 health criteria and other supporting information
The Guidelines for drinking -water quality are intended for use by countries as a basis for the development of standards which, if properly implemented, will ensure the safety of drinking-water supplies. This volume contains a review of the toxicological, epidemiological, and clinical evidence that was available and used in deriving the recommended guideline values that are given in Volume 1. In addition, it provides information regarding the detection of contaminants in water and measures for their control. Although the main purpose of the guidelines is to provide a basis for the development of standards, the information given may also be of assistance to countries in developing alternative control procedures where the implementation of drinking-water standards in not feasible.
