Abstract:

This paper is an attempt to capture the entrepreneurial stories of Indian migrant entrepreneurs in Africa. Essentially, the paper explores how Indian entrepreneurs leverage individual experiences and the institutional environment to navigate and explore untapped markets in Africa. Using three case studies, this paper discusses the life stories, initiatives, experiences, and entrepreneurial practices of migrant Indian entrepreneurs in Africa. The study concludes that the successful entrepreneurial practices of Indian migrants can be attributed to the economic, social, and cultural capital the migrants possess and the creative ways in which they employ resources to execute their strategies. The study is likely to have significant policy implications in promoting entrepreneurial activities in Africa and strengthening the relationship between India and African countries.
