Abstract:

Drawing on United Kingdom experience of community involvement in major physical development schemes, this article presents eight key features essential for successful community involvement. Additionally, an eight point political agenda for action outlines what is required to provide the recognition, support and funding so badly needed to resource U.K. initiatives. The conclusion is that community involvement must become the norm rather than the exception.
