Notes on Regional Leadership and Maritime Security
Notes on Regional Leadership and Maritime Security
As before in history, the sea is set to again become a battlefield of|rivalling global actors. The economic and commercial wealth of that|which is on the sea, in the sea and under the sea as well as the|maritime infrastructure serving it ensures that maritime security is|globally regarded as an issue not to be ignored. In Africa, however,|the security debate often misses the required “seaward glance” as|“land issues” and issues related to regime security are often more|important. Yet, African leaders must develop the means to combat|the vast and growing maritime security threat to the continent.
