Policy making in the European Union
Policy making in the European Union
This new and expanded edition to Policy-Making in the European Union has been fully updated to take into account all of the most important recent developments in EU affairs. Major developments examined include the move to a single European currency, the expansion of common activities in justice and home affairs, recent initiatives to strengthen common foreign and security policy, negotiations on eastern enlargement, and efforts to reform the common agricultural policy. Even more comprehensive than its predecessor, this new edition contains fifteen detailed case studies of EU policy making, each written by experts in their field, and covering all core EU policy spheres, including budgetary policy, trade competition, and the single market. Case studies of environmental policy, social policy, and north-south relations illustrate the range and diversity of EU policy making. In addition, two entirely new studies examine the common approach to biotechnology, and a new introductory chapter explains the various theoretical approaches to the making of policy in the EU.
