Abstract:

Some 20 years ago, I coauthored a book on the history of the SACP and ANC in exile at a time when rather little information was available on the inner workings of the Alliance. This article looks back at the core argument of the book, Comrades against Apartheid, and considers some new themes from the history of the exile period that have become more prominent in retrospect.
