Population Development Conceptions and Determinants: Planning for Developing Countries within Southern Africa
The study examines the conceptions, determinants, and approaches of population development in planning for developing countries with Southern Africa as a case study. The study aims to investigate the determinants of population development planning and to analyse the competing conceptions of population development. The study adopted the desktop methodology and relied heavily on secondary data. Population development refers to the attainment of three core values that are shared by most in society: improved living standards, high self-esteem, and total freedom of choice, which are shared by most in society. The study seeks to establish the determinants of population development in planning for developing countries and propose potential strategic measures that would shape the processes of population development planning for developing countries. The main finding of the study is that population development and demographic aspects are moderately correlated with one another. The study concludes with the Determinants of Population Development in Planning for Developing Countries.
