Abstract:

The liberalization of the press and, more generally, news media, is one of the major stages of the construction a political, social and cultural Africa after decolonization. The emergence of a free and independent press has occurred in the francophone African countries, concomitantly with the onset of democratization in the late 80s. However, learning from history, the liberalization of press is nothing new. Indeed, it would be more of a restoration of freedom of expression, as before the introduction of single-party regimes, these countries had experienced, in different contexts, some form of pluralism of information.
