Regionalism and public policy in northern Ghana
Regionalism and public policy in northern Ghana
At an entirely different level, this book is also meant to be a kind of commemoration of what some would ay is along overdue idea. After several years of thinking about the feasibility and viability of the proposition, the government of Ghana finally agreed to establish a university in the region. The University of Development Studies (popularly referred to as the University of the North), opened its doors in the fall of 1993. Since the social sciences are one of its principal academic concentrations. it seems appropriate to produce a text which will be of direct relevance to that school's core mission. In this regard, it is especially gratifying that the first President (vice-chancellor) of the university, Professor Raymond Bagulo Bening, is one of the contributors to the volume.
