Abstract: 

All-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) plus arsenic trioxide was found to be noninferior to ATRA plus chemotherapy, and less toxic, in the treatment of acute promyelocytic leukemia. This is an early example of a curative therapy for acute leukemia without chemotherapy.
