Abstract:

In order for us to understand the current war in northern Uganda whose dying embers we are currently witnessing, we have to dig into the past and unearth the remains of the history of Uganda. The root causes of the war are long term, stretching as far back as precolonial Uganda, but then the immediate causes that sparked it off date as recent as 1986. My argument is that the causes of the war can be zeroed and summed up in the title of the paper - Uganda's ethnic revolution.
