Abstract:

At the occasion of the Centenary celebrations of the Peace Palace in the Hague, Judge Antônio Augusto Cançado Trindade, honorary professor at the Netherlands Institute of Human Rights (SIM), delivered the speech as published below. The NQHR Executive Editors hold the opinion that the celebration of this Centenary, although primarily a milestone in the development of international law, is also most relevant for the development of human rights law, considering the fundamental human rights issues decided in this context. This connection justified an exception to our rule that publications must deal with human rights issues directly.
