Abstract:

The article discusses the life history of schoolgirl Thérèse Béavogui across post-revolutionary Guinea in 1984-2013. It looks at the factors that have circumscribed ethnohistorical research and writing on young people coming of age in the country. It also contends that an expansion and intensification of youth studies constitutes the necessary cornerstone and catalyst for a new chapter of Guinean postcolonial historiography.
