Abstract:

The article discusses how the persistence and scale of violence in South Africa can be understood as a legacy of the country's apartheid past. The author believes using this approach could also help foster space for more constructive engagement with those who resort to violence in the face of the society’s failure to provide effective channels for more constructive communication.
