Abstract:

This is so because the unstated aim of the Declaration appears to be the exculpation of the leader and the leadership of blame for either initiating or badly prosecuting a calamitous war. Hence the juggling of essential words and phrases that could initiate critical debate on the war and the deployment of essentialist, human-rights and religion-based arguments in a bid to create a persecution complex in the people who, in consequence, would then see themselves as victims of a global conspiracy rather than their own misadventure.
