Abstract:

Adopting an ethnographic multimodal narrative orientation and approach, this study interrogated reality-based data that explain complex struggles and contradictions to social cohesion in a rural community in Nigeria. The individual interviews and focus group discussions used involved ten participants. The outcomes revealed that connected facts bear heavily on community member's emotions and personal beliefs about fairness and equity in the disturbing emergence of violence and human rights abuse in an erstwhile peaceful community. Whilst awaiting justice on the part of both parties, tentative recommendation is made to the effect that a relevant and culturally sustaining human rights-based community learning and action could provide the caveat that has been frequently ignored in community interpersonal relationships.
