Socio-demographic Factors and Exposure to Family Planning Information among Women of Reproductive Ages in Nigeria
Socio-demographic Factors and Exposure to Family Planning Information among Women of Reproductive Ages in Nigeria
Family planning has been a vital discourse in population growth globally because it determines whether the fertility rate increases or decreases. Hence, the need to explore socio-demographic factors and exposure to family planning information among women of reproductive ages in Nigeria cannot be over-emphasised. The study employed data from the Nigerian Demographic and Health Survey 2008 and 2018. The data were analyzed using frequency distributions and binary logistic regression statistical techniques. The findings indicate that age, residence, region, and education, of women of reproductive ages in Nigeria, heard family planning on the radio and significantly affect their exposure to family planning information. The study also revealed that other factors, such as heard family planning on Television and family planning at the health facility, significantly affect exposure to family planning information among the respondents. Thus, the study recommends that women who belong to 30-49 years need more exposure to family planning information on radio and Television by their access to radio, Television, and health facilities to opt for suitable family planning methods in every region of Nigeria.
