Abstracts of Social Science Theses and Dissertations Submitted to Eastern African Universities Vol. 2

This volume represents the second installment of abstracts of graduate theses and dissertations in the social science disciplines presented to Eastern and Southern African Universities. That we have been able to include abstracts from only three universities is evidence that our ambition of making the efforts comprehensive has fallen far short of its mark. The major reason is that the cooperation and enthusiasm that we expected from the various universities has not been forthcoming. We do hope, however, that the third volume will turn out to be much broader in coverage. For we believe that the appearance of the abstracts in a readily available form has an important contribution to make in facilitating social science research in our region. It is in this spirit that we call on colleagues, especially those involved in academic administration, to contribute to the success of the enterprise.
