Abstract:
Traditional musics and dances although still practiced today have tremendously decreased in quantity in Kenya. The musics have undergone a lot of transformation in the face of powerful influences from the west enhanced by the new wave of urbanization. The traditional context of performance, institutional roles, and utilitarian objectives are some of the ideas and concepts that informs traditional genres.
