Abstract:

The Durban Safer City Project was established in 1999 after extensive consultations with stakeholders both inside and outside the metropolitan council. The Safer City Strategy, which is reproduced in this monograph was informed by several pieces of research, including the Durban victim survey. The results of the survey are presented here. The monograph aims to assist those at local government level in the use of information for strategy development.
